Bergmann to be called up from Syracuse [update]
The Nationals have decided to bring up right-hander Jason Bergmann from Triple-A Syracuse after Saturday's game against the Braves. It will be Bergmann's third stint in the big leagues this season.
Bergmann, who has a 6.91 ERA in 14 games, will be a middle reliever. The Nationals want Bergmann to throw more strikes than he did in the past.
The Nationals also designated Jesus Colome for assignment. He had a 8.40 ERA in 15 games. On Friday, Colome gave up a three-run homer to Braves utility man Brooks Conrad in the seventh inning.
