If the Nationals should lose one more time tonight and the Mets should win, that would put the final linchpin in a season of disappointment for the Nationals. Even if they should win it is hard to see how they could make up significant ground enough to catch the Mets when they have the St. Louis Cardinals on their schedule. Three things need to be done to rectify things for next season. One, those coaches who responsible for the off season conditioning program for the players need to be fired and replaced with coaches who are truly competent in that expertise. Second, Matt Williams needs to be replaced with a truly experienced Manager who is a strict disciplinarian. Finally, and most importantly Ownership need to evaluate Mike Rizzo’s overall baseball and personel strategy that places an over emphasis on pitching at the expense of consistent and sustained hitting and offense.
