Milone hits first big-league homer
Nationals left-hander Tom Milone, making his Major League debut, hit his first big-league home run in his at-bat on Saturday night against the Mets.
The homer occurred in the second inning. With runners on second and third and one out, Milone swung at the first pitch he saw from Dillon Gee and hit a home run over the right-field wall to give the Nationals a 5-0 lead.
Milone became the fourth Nationals/Expos player to hit a home run in his first plate appearance.
Milone’s accomplishments shouldn’t surprise anyone. He was 9-for 26 [.346] with three RBIs for Triple A Syracuse.
