From Futures Game, Peacock heads to Triple-A

A day after pitching one shutout inning for the US Team in the XM Futures Game, Nationals right-hander Brad Peacock was promoted from Double A Harrisburg to Triple A Syracuse on Monday.

Peacock is tentatively scheduled to pitch his first game for Syracuse on Saturday against Lehigh Valley. Peacock is also expected attend the Eastern League All-Star game this week, but he will not pitch in the game.

Peacock is the best pitching prospect in the Nationals’ organization. So much so that by 2013, Peacock is expected to be the No. 3 starter in the rotation behind Stephen Strasburg and Jordan Zimmermann.

Like Strasburg and Zimmermann, Peacock is a power pitcher and has the stats to back it up. He was 10-2 with a 2.01 ERA for Harrisburg. Even more impressive, Peacock has struck out 129 batters in 98 2/3 innings.

“This guy has taken the ball every fifth day and just went out there and has dominated, no matter who is the opponent was,” Harrisburg manager Tony Beasley said. “He is almost to the point where he is feared. When he comes out, you know how he is going to pitch and you still can’t hit it. He is going to challenge you with fastballs 90 percent of the time and get a lot of swings and misses.”

this guy is the frickin man

I hope they post some video of Peacock pitching in the Futures Game onto the Nats website.

I saw him pitch in the futures game. He really does just come out and challenge the hitter. Good command from what I saw and batters were late on his pitches. 2013 I think is actually late for this guy. I bet he is a September call up this year and competing for a spot in the 2012 rotation for maybe a 4th or 5th starter position.

saw him pitch twice in Richmond this year and he won both games and struck out 14 in one game. The other game he struck out 5 of the first 6 he faced. fastbal hit 96 a couple of times but usually around 93=94. Really impressed me. Announcers were saying a couple of days before game Richmond needed to win the next game because Peacock was pitching the game after. .Best looking pitcher I have seen in person since Kevin Millwood was coming up for Braves.

Crazy what a change in arm slot can do for a talented pitcher, 43rd round or not. thanks Alan.

Thats awesome.

I can’t WAIT to see this guy in a Nationals uniform! Let’s just see how he does in AAA beforehand. Looking forward to seeing him on the roster of next year’s spring training with the Nats! GO NATS!!!
