Wang feeling better on mound

A day after pitching four shutout innings in a rehab stint for Class A Potomac, Nationals right-hander Chien-Ming Wang announced Sunday that he is scheduled to pitch five innings for Double-A Harrisburg this week.

In two rehab starts with Potomac and Class A Hagerstown, Wang has a combined 2.57 ERA with a 2.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio (5 Ks/2 BBs). In his last start, his fastball was clocked as high as 91 miles per hour.

Wang said he would like to improve his control on the mound and pitch in the big leagues this year. The last time Wang pitched in a big-league game was in early 2009, when he played with the Yankees. He has missed more two years because of shoulder problems. He missed the entire 2010 season and has yet to pitch in a big-league game this year.

Wang said this year is the best he has felt in a long time.

“Last year was [up and down],” Wang said. “This year, [the shoulder is] getting better and better.”

Calling it now: Wang has one or 2 starts at Harrisburg, then they give him a start at AAA. The team flips Marquis to someone for prospects by the trade deadline and calls Wang up. This gives them a rotation of Hernandez, Lannan, Zimmermann, Wang, Gorzelanny (or thereabouts) until the end of the season. They’ll shut Zimmermann down in Early september and bring up Detwiler to flush out the rotation. YEs Strasburg will be healthy by then but i don’t see them putting him right into the rotation unless they have to.

Can’t wait to see Wang comes to DC! I’ve been in these two rehab games and will continue to go to Harrisburg to support him! Come on Wang!!

Wang is coming back to MLB. Congratulation! I think Wang will show his ability to get more wins like he was in Yankees.
Wang also will stay in Washington as long as he can for repaying Washington hopely.
