Nats’ Wang to have rehab stint

Nationals right-hander Chien-Ming Wang will have a rehab stint with Class A Hagerstown on Monday. It will be his first professional game of any kind for the Nationals. It’s not known how many innings Wang will throw for Hagerstown.

Since he joined the club in 2009, Wang has yet to play a professional game for Washington because of right shoulder problems. While rehabbing the shoulder, however, Wang has been able to participate in Minor League intrasquad games.

In other news, with John McLaren as the interim manager, Trent Jewett will be the bench coach for Friday’s game against the White Sox.

This is a bigger surprise than Riggleman’s quitting!

This is great news… if wang can return with Strasburg in September, could make things very interesting if we’re still in it for the stretch run…. for at least the wild card. I’m guessing that Strasburg will be returning when Zimmerman reaches his innings limit, then Wang ‘if he’s pitching well’ can replace any other starter who stumbles to the finish line. Again, could make things very interesting!

I am glad wang is back. He can pitch well when he is health.

I guess we’ll find out Monday if Wang’s arm is still a big league arm. I hope everything goes well. He’s had a long, tough road back.

Wang’s going to get shelled. HIs velocity on his sinker which used to be pretty steady at 93-94 is 84-84. He’s not going to replace Zimmermann? What planet are you beaming from? Stammen, Milone, Meyers, Detwiler all are way ahead of him and Strasburg might show up in September.

Wang really? sheesh.
