Nats name Mock as fifth starter
The Nationals decided Saturday that right-hander Garrett Mock will be their fifth starter, while Scott Olsen more than likely will start the season at Triple-A Syracuse.
Mock wins the job even though he was hit hard in his last two starts including a game against the Astros’ Minor League team. He is likely to pitch against the Mets on Friday at Citi Field.
Based on Spring Training stats, Olsen had the edge, but the organization was split on him and Mock, but there are some who believe that Olsen needs to build arm strength in the Minor Leagues.
