Olsen to pitch next week against Marlins
Manager Manny Acta announced that left-hander Scott Olsen will be activated from the disabled list before the Nationals play a three-game series against the Marlins. Olsen most likely will start Monday at Dolphin Stadium.
Olsen’s return means one of the young pitchers in the rotation will be sent back to Triple-A Syracuse. Right-hander Craig Stammen, who is schedule to pitch on Monday, is the leading candidate to be sent down. He is 1-3 with a 5.49 ERA.

blows my mind that they are sticking with Detwiler instead of Stammen. Stammen has been more consistent than Detwiler. Detwiler has a rare good start and has yet to win. At leats Stammen has won a game at this level. Demote Detwiler.
I agree that Detwiler should be the one to be sent down to Syracuse when Olsen is activated….Stammen has been more effective. We have three young pitchers in the rotation who’ve won at least three; and Stammen and Olsen should round out the 5-man rotation for the rest of the year for our promising young staff now and for the long term as part of our foundation for a better team next year. Now if we can only improve our defense and refire our offense…watch out. Go Nats!
