Beimel on 15-day disabled list; Rivera in big leagues

The Nationals placed left-hander Joe Beimel on the 15-day disabled list because of a left hip flexor strain and recalled right-hander Saul Rivera from Triple-A Syracuse.

Beimel, 32, suffered the injury while making diving play off the bat of Braves second baseman Kelly Johnson in the eighth inning of Monday’s game. In eight relief appearances this season, Beimel has 1.23 ERA.

Rivera, 31, pitched in six games this season and was hit hard, given up 10 runs in 7 1/3 innings. On Sunday, he was sent down to the Syracuse after giving up four in one inning against the Marlins.

Dang,
I like Joe Beimel.
I thought he might be a great addition to your Bullpen. Hopefully it is not going to linger and you can get this leftie back in the fold soon.
With the recent shuffling of the Bullpen, a veteran like Beimel could be a great source for the young guys.
