Jorge Sosa has work visa
Manager Manny Acta said on Thursday that right-hander Jorge Sosa received his work visa and will go to extended Spring Training to start the season.
Sosa was denied a work visa two weeks ago by the United States Consulate in the Dominican Republic, but he appealed the decision and was able to get a ruling in his favor.
Sosa, who signed a Minor League contract with Washington last December, was expected to compete for a bullpen spot. Once he enters the United States, however, Sosa must complete a 50-game Minor League suspension for testing positive for using an amphetamine.
