Zimmerman talks continue
Nationals team president Stan Kasten is trying hard to sign third baseman Ryan Zimmerman to an extension.
In fact, Kasten met with Zimmerman’s agent, Brodie Van Wagenen, on Tuesday morning at Space Coast Stadium.
Both Kasten and Van Wagenen said they will continue to have dialogue. The goal is to get a deal done by Opening Day. The two are expected to talk again in a few days.
‘I’m happy to have the meeting with Stan and looking forward to the new direction the team is taking.” Van Wagenen said.
Kasten found himself involved in the Zimmerman negotiations after Jim Bowden resigned as general manager of the club on Sunday. In the past, it was Bowden and assistant general manager Mike Rizzo involved in the negotiations with Van Wagenen.
